ICONOCLASTS EXHIBITION CAIRNS
Iconoclasts- An exhibition of paintings, sculptures and drawings by Daniel Butterworth, Adam Cusack, Louisa Ennis-Thomas, Nic Plowman, Julie Poulsen & Joel Rea. Showing from 12 August – 2 September 2017 at the Centre of Contemporary Arts, 96 Abbott Street, Cairns, Queensland, Australia.
Iconoclasts sees artists Daniel Butterworth, Adam Cusack, Louisa Ennis-Thomas, Nic Plowman, Julie Poulsen and Joel Rea forge links between their contemporary art practices and iconic works created by key Australian figurative artists including George Lambert, Ian Fairweather, Sydney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Albert Tucker and Brett Whitley. The participating artists have reflected upon these contributions – examining the ethical, political and social narratives that define Australian-ness according to their individual artistic practices.
